Pleasant Hill News By Mrs. T. Y. Puryear Mr. and Mrs. Alpheus Haswell and children of Wendell and Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Miller and children, Phylis and Randy, of Danville, Va., were visitors Sunday at the Gratis Haswells and the J. T. Gays. Mr. and Mrs. Everette Whitaker and daughter, Emily Dimock of Morganton spent Saturday with the S. T. Whitakers. Visitors Sun day were Mr. and Mrs. Talmage Gay of Raleigh and Mrs. Mamie Gay of Morganton. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Agan of Kin ston spent several days last week with their parents, the John Starnes. Mrs. Shirley Henley and children of Kinston sDent Fridav with them. Sunday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Everette Whitaker and daughter, Dimock, and Mrs. Mamie Gay of Morganton, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Gay and children, Don and Alice, of Kinston, Mrs. Vera Rhodes of Wakefield, Mrs. Bertha Hood of Raleigh, Mrs. Jack West and sons, Jack and David, of Dur ham, Mr. and Mrs. Talmage Gay of Raleigh. Mrs. John Starnes and the Whit akers of Morganton motored to: Garner Sunday afternoon to visit I Mr. and Mrs. Calhoon and Mr. and I Mrs. Jimmie Bryan. : Mrs. Alfonza Starnes visited her! daughter - in - law, Mrs. Frank i Starnes, at Wake Memorial Hos- I pital and Mrs. Effie Jones in Rex! Hospital Monday afternoon. Mrs. Starnes’ grandchildren, Tim and Tam Whitley, and Sharon Starnes and Harrol Shepherd of! Wendell spent the weekend. On! Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bob- I bitt and Mr. Frank Starnes, all of! Wendell, had lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Starnes. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Earp of Raleigh, Route, visited her daugh ter, Miss Eloise Barnes, at the home of Mrs, Alice Hood Saturday afternoon. Visitors at the T. Y. Puryears, Sr., Sunday were the Maynard Puryears and children, Donald and Freddie, the Carl Puryears, and Dillard Thorne and daughter, Rose, all of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Gay and children, Don and Alice, of Kinston. The T. Y. Puryears, Jr., and children, Marion and Susan, and Miss Lashell Murray of Middlesex, Ted Cashwell and children, and Mrs. Naomi Carter of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Puryear and son, George, of Youngsville, Route 1, were visitors Sunday. Visitors on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Williford of Raleigh. Mrs. Pearl Wood, Mrs. Herbert Shirley, Mrs. Naomi Carter, Ted Cashwell and children called Sun day afternon at Mr. J. B. Carter’s. Mrs. Margarette Jeffreys of Ral eigh spent Saturday with Mr. Car ter; and Mr. and Mrs. John Carter and children of Rosenburg called Sunday night. People covered their gardens with canvas Monday night. The temperature was 31 degrees. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ayscue of Wendell visited their father, A. O. Puryear, Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Hughie Hinnant and daughter, Kila Mae, called at J. B. Carter’s Sunday afternoon. Miss Kila Mae is of Raleigh. She spent the weekend with her par ents. Conrad Raper spent the Easter holidays with his wife and baby, Cris, at the home of the Robert Brantleys. Mrs. Sallie Hagwood and chil dren of Zebulon and Morton and Luna Robertson of Knightdale called Monday at the Robert Brantleys.
